On June 1st, three members of the 7200 Restoration team, Eric Miller, Peter Davis and myself visited Auto-vent in Stoke on Trent, to check on the progress being on the construction of the two new side-tanks, and the reconstruction of the bunker.
We were made very welcome at Auto-vent and were pleased to find that work was complete, apart from a few minor points. We have arranged for the tanks and bunker to return to Quainton on Wednesday June 15th.
We have had a lot of help from Greg and Chris at the Churnet Valley Railway, and when we arrived at Auto-vent they were there to meet us. After our viewing of the tanks, we were cordially invited back to Cheddleton for a tour of the CVR workshops and a train ride behind a GWR 2-6-2T. We found the staff at the CVR to be very welcoming and friendly, and we wish them all the best with their forthcoming extensions to Leek and Alton Towers.
