Progress Report: May 2011
Work has been continuing on tidying up the front end of 7200. Most of the covering has been completed on the
pistons, thanks mainly to Peter Davis and Marcheta Beattie, whilst Harry Parr has proved his worth by painting the
front buffer beam red and the buffers black - this has given the front of the loco a smart appearance.
Mike Gibbs, as usual, has been busy in the Machine Shop; though with Les Beaton still recovering from an operation on
his ankle, we are in desperate need of another machinist ... any offers?
Chris Parr and Keith Beattie have been helping out where needed, including helping me with the cab restoration.
We have had news this week that the side-tanks and bunker are now finished, and are ready to be signed off prior to a
return to Quainton. We are hoping to visit Auto-Vent next week to inspect and authorise their return.
One of our visitors recently remarked that with work on 7200's sister loco, 7202, progressing well, the sight of
the two 2-8-2Ts working in tandem would be quite awesome - real GWR power.
Thanks to all the restoration team, including the ones that I have forgotten to mention, for getting the project so
far.
