The Siphon G Project
Apart from 7200, the Trust also own another vehicle. This is W1037 - a large
wooden‑bodied freight wagon known as a "Siphon G"
W1037 was built by British Railways in 1955 to a Great Western Design, and was used, in a
rake of similar vehicles, to carry fast freight - usually perishables, e.g. milk in churns.
We have been looking for some time to fully restore this vehicle. It has been restored in
the past, but now needs some TLC before it deteriorates too much.
Volunteers
We are appealing for volunteer carpenters and other woodworkers to form a new team to restore
the Siphon G. Money will be made available for materials, but this will be treated as a
separate project, independent of the 7200 engineering team, although help could be given if
needed.
