7200 Postage Stamps
The 7200 class is famous in a totally unexpected corner of the world - the West Indies.
On the 1st December 1986, Union Island issued a pair of postage stamps featuring sketches
of a 7200 class locomotive. The first stamp illustrates the technical / plan drawings; the
second stamp depicts the locomotive at work.
Union Island is the southernmost island of the Grenadines, belonging to the state of
St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Between 1983 and 1987 the islands of the British Commonwealth
collaboratively produced an omnibus issue of postage stamps depicting famous and
historic locomotives, including GWR Class 7200.
