7200 on a westbound mixed freight train approaching St Fagans, Cardiff

WANT TO HELP?

Being a non-profit charity organization, we depend entirely on the support of our volunteer members and generous donations to further our cause. There are many ways you can help with the restoration of GWR no.7200

Membership

The main force behind 7200's restoration is club membership. All of the membership dues that the trust collects are put directly into the restoration of the locomotive. It is this support that continues to drive the organization forward. Even if you're not based in the UK, you can make an impact on our project!

One hundred percent of our restoration is conducted by volunteers, who are required to become club members of the 7200 Trust. If you are interested in participating in the restoration itself, click here to become a member of the Trust, or contact us via email.

For insurance reasons, existing members who wish to participate in the physical restoration at Quainton Road will be required to become a member of the Quainton Railway Society available here.

Volunteers can take on many different roles, ranging from machinists to painters to stallholders and everything in between. Working on these giants is fulfilling work that can create great friendships and foster pride in projects. Everyone benefits, especially the locomotive!

  • We welcome all people to our team including those with no previous engineering experience.

  • Our working days are Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays 9am to 5pm.

  • Food and Beverage is provided at the Bucks Rail Centre's very own Railway Café on Wednesdays and Sundays only.

Donations

We do not receive any kind of government grants or funding. All of the materials and funding for the purchase and restoration of 7200 has come from a generous corporate or individual donations or grants.

The donation we need the most, of course, is money. Particularly for our Boiler Fund. Having already raised £45,000, the project will require a further £95,000 in restoration funding for the boiler. Every donations counts! Click the button below to send a monetary donation to our cause.

A donation of £15 or over will have a personal "certificate of donation" sent to you via the postal address provided on checkout.

In addition to money, we will also consider accepting donations of items, such as tools and machinery, safety equipment, or parts and materials for the equipment we restore. Corporations are also welcome to donate materials or professional services towards our restoration effort.
